Orderly/Receptionist
General Services and Infrastructure Unit
The Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) is offering a position for an Orderly/Receptionist in the General Services and Infrastructure Unit to temporarily cover the reception of the new VHIR building.
Education and qualifications:
Required:
- Secondary School certificate or High-school Diploma
Experience and knowledge:
Required:
- At least 1 year of experience in customer service or public-facing roles.
- Ability to perform tasks that require physical effort.
Desired:
- Experience in the Healthcare Sector as an Orderly.
- Experience in filling laboratory sample storage systems with Liquid Nitrogen.
- Basic Office IT skills.
- Knowledge and experience in maintenance tasks.
- Competencies: Teamwork, communication, proactivity, flexibility, and customer orientation.
Main responsibilities and duties:
- Provide support to all VHIR staff in required auxiliary tasks (messaging, reception, transfers, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with VHIR’s internal regulations regarding building operation and safety:
- Daily supervision of laboratories and freezers in different locations. Follow action protocols in case of alarms.
- Monitor liquid nitrogen tank levels and perform periodic refills.
- Move objects, especially heavy items (equipment, tables, furniture, transfers, etc.).
- Assist laboratories and common areas with installing new equipment.
- Control access to VHIR buildings through security lists (authorized personnel entries and exits).
- Manage internal mail.
- Transport samples, documents, and various materials between Campus buildings as needed.
- Provide logistical support for the dissemination and organization of courses and seminars.
- Receive and distribute packages for VHIR.
- Record and report material needs for cleaning staff or general building maintenance.
- Carry out assigned activities in accordance with established procedures and participate in their updates when applicable.
- Ensure that activities are performed in compliance with the quality system procedures of the Unit, promoting and implementing continuous improvement in their area of responsibility.
Labour conditions:
- Part-time position: 37,5h/week.
- Morning shift (flexible working hours will be valued): 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM
- Gross annual salary: Remuneration will depend on experience and skills. Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale.
- Contract: Temporary.
