Scientific Delivery Coordinator (Childhood cancer and blood disorders)
The University Hospital Vall d'Hebron is highly specialized in rare diseases on a Regional, national and international level with its incorporation as full member of 20 of the 24 European Reference Networks (ERN).
The scientific direction of the ERN-EuroBloodNet, www.eurobloodnet.eu, the ERN dedicated to Rare Hematological Diseases (RHD), is led by Dr Mañú Pereira, head of the Rare Anemia Disorders research lab within the “CANCER Y ENFERMEDADES HEMATOLOGICAS INFANTILES” group.
Our research strategy is focused on the development and validation of innovative methodological approaches for better characterization of patients affected by rare anemia disorders according to their individual features to allow personal risk profiles and personalized medicine.
In this context the Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) offers a vacant position for an experienced Scientific Delivery coordinator in the Research Group on Rare Anemias Disorders in Barcelona, who will lead the delivery of several high impactful Research projects, in particular GenoMed4All (Genomics and Personalized Medicine for all though Artificial Intelligence in Haematological Diseases), SYNTHEMA (Synthetic generation of hematological data over federated computing frameworks) and ERDERA (European Rare Diseases Research Alliance), projects funded by the European Union in the frame of the Horizon Europe Programme.
Education and qualifications:
Required:
- University degree in area of biosciences (e.g. Biology, Bioinformatic, Biotechnology, Pharmacy)
Experience and knowledge:
Required:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in scientific project management, project planning, within a scientific or research environment
- Fluent English. We are working at European level and have frequent meetings in English
- IT skills: Proficient use of Microsoft Office packages (Power point, Excel, Word)
- Experience with European Projects planning and delivery coordination (work packages, person-months...)
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
Desired:
- Experience in managing technology projects
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies
Main responsibilities and duties:
Overall delivery coordination of several EU projects:
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain up-to-date project documentation, including protocols, progress reports, and meeting minutes. Prepare and distribute deliverables, summaries, and presentations as needed.
- Meeting Coordination: Organize and facilitate regular project meetings, including scheduling, preparing agendas, following up on action items and maintaining contact list.
- Collaborate with our delivery team to ensure project alignment and smooth execution. Revise project plans on a regular basis, making sure any issue is escalated to the management.
Resource Management:
Collaborate with the Project Managment office to:
- Identify and allocate necessary resources (personnel) to ensure project milestones are met, within initial budget allocation.
- Monitor project budgets and expenditures, providing regular updates and flagging any potential deviations or resource gaps.
Labour conditions:
- Full-time position: 40h/week.
- Starting date: immediate.
- Gross annual salary: Remuneration will depend on experience and skills. Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale.
- Contract: Technical and scientific activities contract linked to the project activities
