Knowledge Manager
VHIR offers a vacant position for a Knowledge Manager within the Secretariat for Scientific Governance and Policy at the Internal Strategy Area of VHIR.
The Secretariat for Scientific Governance and Policy Unit is responsible for the knowledge management of the Institution as well as the coordination of a wide range of strategic, scientific and institutional activities, such as Strategic planning implementation, institutional evaluations, research performance KPIs and the global support in the development and monitoring of the global institutional structure.
The Knowledge Manager supports VHIR Management in making decisions based on the Institution's scientific production, as well as actively participating in the management of its knowledge through, the maintenance of the bibliographic database, collaboration in the elaboration of Director’s Scientific Reports and monitoring the evolution of the Institution's scientific production.
Education and qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Sciences (preferably in Life Sciences) Library or Information Sciences.
- Proficiency in MS Office tools such as Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- High level of Spanish and Catalan (C1).
- English spoken and written correctly (B2).
Desired:
- Good command of data analysis and visualization tools (Excel, PowerBI)
- Postgraduate studies on business data analytics will be a plus
Experience and knowledge:
Required:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the field of knowledge management, preferably in a scientific environment
- Proven knowledge of scientific bibliographic management and of research bibliometric indicators (author level & journal level)
- Proven knowledge of bibliographic tools & resources (Pubmed, Web of Science, Scopus, etc.)
- Good knowledge of the EU's Open Science Policy and FAIR principles
- Good knowledge of science assessment initiatives (DORA, KU Leuven, CoARA)
- Personal skills:
- Critical thinking and advanced analysis and problem-solving skills
- Well organised with excellent planification and time management skills
- Ability to interact with different hierarchical levels of the organisation
- Ability to prioritize and work under tight deadlines
- Proactive, flexible and results and quality oriented
- Effective management of work under pressure with the ability to prioritize tasks as needed and tolerance to workloads
- Team player with excellent interpersonal skills, with a strong commitment and customer service orientation (internal and external)
Desired:
- Knowledge and experience in the biomedical field, Research Organizations or Health Related Institutions will be valued
- Be familiar with competitive and non-competitive research activities

Main responsibilities and duties:
The candidate will provide support within the Secretariat for Scientific Governance and Policy Unit (Internal Strategy Area)., ensuring that all the knowledge fields related tasks are maintained properly and up to date. Specifically, but not limited to, this support will include:
- Maintain the database of scientific publications (collection and verification of VHIR researchers’ publications) and the monitoring of bibliometric indicators and inclusion in repositories.
- Provide support on the Open Science policy implementation.
- Contribute to the promotion of the participation of VHIR in open science networks and projects and ensure that best practices and standards are incorporated to the institute and that we always comply with requirements of funding institutions.
- Collaborate in the research assessment initiatives promoted by the Institution.
- Provide support in a wide range of activities related to institutional knowledge, such as institutional and researcher evaluations, the quality of institutional data related to scientific production, and the provision of data on publications and projects, among others, in coordination with other managers within and outside the Internal Strategy Area.
- Liaise with Research Groups’ & Institution necessities regarding knowledge needs (also with the Scientific Coordination Unit).
- Design of effective and impactful reports and data visualisations.
- Coordinate with other members of the organisation for the accomplishment of assigned tasks.
- Full-time: 40h/week.
- Starting date: immediately
- Remuneration will depend on experience and skills. Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale.
