Biomedical Engineer (Cardiovascular diseases)
VHIR offers a position for a biomedical engineer in cardiovascular imaging within the Cardiovascular Diseases Research group for research in aortic diseases.
We are looking for a technical researcher to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role will be to progress the research line in aortic diseases in cardiac MRI, PET-MRI and CT images.
Education and qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Physics, or related topics
- Master degree in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Imaging, Biomedical Research or related topics
- Fluency in Catalan, Spanish and English (professional level)
Experience and knowledge:
Required:
- Experience programming in Matlab, Python and RStudio (Advanced level)
- Experience in the management and analysis of large medical databases
- Previous experience in medical imaging analysis, particularly 3D CT, MRI and/or PET
- Experience in statistical analysis of clinical and imaging data
- Experience in the development of simple user interface for use by clinicians
- Experience in scientific writing
Desired:
- Previous experience in medical research
- Previous experience in generative models with artificial intelligence will be valued
- Motivation for clinical research with advanced imaging
- Motivation for pursuing a PhD
Main responsibilities and duties:
- Research in cardiovascular image analysis, with specific focus on CT, MR imaging, 4d flow and PET.
- Further development of Matlab and Python codes for the analysis of complex hemodynamics in the aorta.
- Cross-modality (PET- MRI) mapping and image registration.
- Advanced statistical analysis in RStudio.
Labour conditions:
- Full-time position: 40h/week
- Starting date: September 1, 2025
- Gross annual salary: 22.823,22 - 24.000,00 euros (Remuneration will depend on experience and skills. Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale)
- Contract: Technical and scientific activities contract linked to the project activities
