Biomedical Engineer (Cardiovascular diseases)
VHIR offers a position for a biomedical engineer to join the Cardiovascular Diseases Research Group, specialising in cardiovascular imaging.
We are looking for a biomedical engineer to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role will be to progress the research line in artificial intelligence in echocardiographic images.
Education and qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering or related topics
- Master's degree in medical imaging, Biomedical Engineering or related topics
- Fluency in Catalan or Spanish and in English at business level
Experience and knowledge:
Required:
- Knowledge of TensorFlow, Pandas and PyTorch
- Experience programming in Python, Matlab and R (Advanced level)
- Experience in development, training and fine-tuning of DL models
- Previous experience in medical imaging research
- Previous experience in scientific reporting (abstracts, papers)
- Code version controlling with Git/GitHub
Desired:
- Motivation for pursuing a PhD
- Previous stay in foreign research centers
Main responsibilities and duties:
- Research in cardiovascular image analysis, with specific focus on cardiac ultrasound.
- Development of AI models for echocardiography analysis.
- Development of purpose-specific analysis codes for advanced imaging analysis.
- Statistical analysis.
- Scientific reporting of results (abstracts, research manuscripts).
- Maintaining close collaboration with engineers and clinical researchers of the cardiovascular imaging unit.
Labour conditions:
- Full-time position: 40h/week
- Starting date: October 2025
- Gross annual salary: 22.823,22 - 24.000,00 euros (Remuneration will depend on experience and skills. Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale)
- Contract: Technical and scientific activities contract linked to the project activities
