Research Assistant in Genetics and Bioinformatics (Infection and immunity in pediatric patients)
VHIR offers a vacant position for a research assistant with a background in genetics and bioinformatics to work on NGS data analysis and interpretation. The researcher will join the multidisciplinary team of the Infection and Immunity in Pediatric Patients Research Group, focusing on high-throughput data from patients with immune and hematologic disorders.
Education and qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biosciences (Biology, Biomedicine, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Human Biology, Genetics, etc).
- Master Degree related with Bioinformatics, Genetics, Omics or similar
- Fluency in Catalan, Spanish and English
Experience and knowledge:
Required:
- Experience working with management and analysis of NGS data (bash, R, MySQL, etc)
- Knowledge of interpretation of NGS data
- Knowledge in biostatistics
Desired:
- Previous experience in the field of genetic studies in a clinical setting
Main responsibilities and duties:
- Perform NGS analysis from Fastq to VCF file on gene panels, WES, short and long read WGS
- Manage internal databases (raw data and metadata)
- Perform data interpretation following standardized criteria
- Perform advanced genetic analysis from raw data (CNV variant calling, somatic variant calling, etc).
Labour conditions:
- Full-time position: 40h/week.
- Starting date: immediate
- Gross annual salary: 27.500 euros (Remuneration will depend on experience and skills. Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale)
- Contract: Technical and scientific activities contract linked to the project activities
