Research Technician (Gene Therapy for Nervous System)
The Vector Production Unit (UPV) is seeking to hire 2 Laboratory Technicians to actively participate in the transfer, set-up, and scale-up of AAV viral vector production at the new VHIR site (UAB Campus). The selected candidates will play a key role in the following activities:
- Transfer of facilities, equipment, and biological material.
- Set-up of the new facilities.
- Optimization of scalable AAV vector production processes.
- Production, purification, and characterization of vector batches.
- Maintenance and calibration of equipment.
Education and qualifications:
Required:
- Higher Technician Curse (CFGS) in Clinical and Biomedical Laboratory, Pathological Anatomy, or similar.
- Training in Quality (ISO 9001:2015).
- Training in Viral Vectors and Biosafety.
Desired:
- Proficiency in Catalan and Spanish. Intermediate level of English.
Experience and knowledge:
Required:
- At least 2 years of experience in Maxipreps, Minipreps, and cloning, as well as other molecular biology techniques.
- At least 2 years of experience in production, purification, and titration of AAV.
- At least 2 years of experience in production and purification of Adenoviruses.
- At least 2 years of experience in culturing stable human cell lines.
Main responsibilities and duties:
- Amplification and purification of plasmids (minipreps, maxipreps).
- Production of AAV and Adenoviral vectors, as well as maintenance and passaging of stable cell lines.
- Maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Preparation of reagent and material stocks.
Labour conditions:
- Full-time: 40 h/week.
- Start date: Immediate.
- Annual gross salary: Remuneration will depend on experience and skills. Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale.
- Contract: Technical and scientific activities contract linked to the project activities (CERTERA).
