Post-Award Research Officer
Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) is a public sector institution, located in Barcelona (Spain) that promotes and develops innovative biomedical research at the University Hospital Vall d'Hebron. VHIR is oriented towards finding solutions to the health problems of the citizens and has the will to contribute to the scientific, educational, social and economic development within its area of competence.
We encourage and support our researchers in the pursuit of competitive funding for research detecting opportunities and contributing to the development of quality proposals (Pre-Award Unit). Once the desired funding is achieved, we provide support in managing granted funds to comply with internal policies and funding bodies regulations (Post-Award Unit).
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic candidate to join the Post-Award Unit as a Post-Award Research Officer to strengthen the team.
Education and qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree related with job description duties.
- Excellent written and oral communication in Catalan and/or Spanish.
- Fluency in English (business level).
Desired:
- Specific training in grant management will be highly valuable.
Experience and knowledge:
Required:
- Experience in grant management or in a similar financial management role.
- Personal skills:
- Well-organized.
- Meticulous, close attention to detail.
- Proactive and results-oriented.
- Ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Excellent teamwork and relational skills.
Desired:
- Experience in research institutions in the biomedical sector.
- Experience in the management of grants funded by ISCiii, AEI, and/or European Commission, among other funding agencies.
Main responsibilities and duties:
- Management grant budgets, preparing financial reports and audits
- Monitoring project work plan, scientific reports and implementation of grant agreements
- Anticipating possible deviations during project implementation, planning risk contingency actions if necessary
- Ensuring compliance with institutional policies and sponsoring agency regulations and policies
- Serving as liaison between researchers and funding agencies
- Any other duties related to the job as requested to contribute to the general functioning of the Competitive Research Directorate
Labour conditions:
- Full-time position: 40h/week.
- Starting date: immediate.
- Gross annual salary: Remuneration will depend on experience and skills. Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale.
- Contract: contract linked to the project with a possible extension (July 2026).
