Laboratory Support
The Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) is offering one laboratory assistant position for the Laboratory Coordination Unit. This unit is responsible for the maintenance of common areas and laboratories at VHIR.
Education and qualifications:
Required:
- FPI/CFGM (preferably in a health-related field)
Experience and knowledge:
Required:
- At least 6 months / 1 year of experience performing laboratory assistant tasks in a healthcare institution.
- Knowledge of the organisation and functioning of a laboratory or equivalent space.
- Experience with autoclave

Main responsibilities and duties:
- Maintain daily optimal hygiene and sterilisation conditions for all materials used in the laboratories (collect, clean, sterilise, and distribute materials).
- Ensure daily operation of the cleaning rooms under their responsibility (autoclave, Milli-Q and Elix systems), as well as the orderliness of equipment and common areas at VHIR (freezers, developers, cold rooms, and cleaning storage).
- Prepare developing solutions, as well as monitor the correct functioning of equipment and manage the disposal of photographic waste with authorised waste handlers.
- Maintain the stock of consumable materials in common rooms, general laboratory cleaning supplies, and consumables for purified water equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance cleaning of shared equipment (centrifuges, microwaves, cabinets, incubators, shakers, ultrasonic baths, etc.).
- Carry out assigned activities in accordance with established procedures and, when applicable, participate in updating them.
- Participate in the preventive maintenance shutdown of the common culture rooms by performing cleaning tasks for equipment and laboratory materials.
- Ensure that activities are carried out in accordance with the requirements established in the Unit’s quality system procedures, and promote and implement continuous improvement within their area of responsibility.
Labour conditions:
- Full-time position: 37.5h/week, from 7:30 am to 3:00 pm.
- Starting date: immediate
- Gross annual salary: Remuneration will depend on experience and skills. Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale.
- Contract: Permanent
