Research Technician (Biomedical research in melanoma)
The Melanoma Biomedical Research and Mouse Model and Cancer Laboratory at VHIR is currently seeking a candidate to apply for the Research Technician position. We offer advanced, interdisciplinary training in the field of cancer and tumor biology, and a lively and international educational atmosphere, with excellent state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and competitive fellowships. Our research is focused on translational investigations in melanoma and other skin cancers. We combine conventional and state-of-the-art technologies (–omics tools) together with animal models and primary human tumour samples (PDX), to study cancer (melanoma) development and progression. Our main interest is to translate our results into the clinic.
Specifically, the candidate will be involved in studying the role of certain molecules in melanoma development and progression, and in the regulation of the immune system in the tumour environment for therapeutic purposes. Further information will be released to interested candidates.
Education and qualifications:
Required:
Master’s degree
Fluency in, Spanish and English (business level)
Desired:
Experience in FACS, microscopy, cell culture, functional immune assays and molecular biology techniques
Experience in human melanoma and UVB-induced melanoma mouse models
Experience and knowledge:
Required:
Experience in animal work and cancer immunology, holding certification for animal handling
Knowledge of flow cytometry
Good communication skills and fluency in spoken and written English
Organised and methodical person with high motivation and initiative
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
Main responsibilities and duties:
Provide support to members of the group and students.
Collaborate with other members of the group.
Prepare/Organise experiments.
Analyse data.
Keep track of the results and mouse colonies.
Labour conditions:
Full-time position: 37,5h/week
Starting date: March 2026
Gross annual salary: Remuneration will depend on experience and skills. Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale
