Biomedical Data Intelligence Unit (BIDU)
The mission of this position is to act as a hands-on technical reference in medical imaging, clinical data and applied biostatistics within BIDU.
The role is primarily focused on technical execution, ensuring the correct extraction, anonymisation, transformation, validation and delivery of biomedical datasets and imaging data, as well as the execution of applied biostatistical and data analysis tasks.
The position operates under defined service scopes and project frameworks, contributing technical expertise to BIDU services while ensuring compliance with GDPR and institutional data governance policies.
Education and qualifications:
Required:
University degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, AI, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering, Biostatistics or related fields.
Professional proficiency in Catalan, Spanish and English.
Desired:
Postgraduate training in Data Science, Biostatistics or Health Technologies
Experience and knowledge:
Required:
Proven hands-on experience (3–4 years) in biomedical data or imaging environments.
Direct experience with ETL pipelines, anonymisation and medical imaging data.
Practical knowledge of Python and/or R.
Experience working in Linux/Unix environments.
Familiarity with REDCap or similar EDC systems.…

Experience in AI/ML projects applied to healthcare.
Knowledge of PACS architecture
Knowledge of DICOM formatting
Familiarity with privacy-preserving analytics or federated analysis approaches.
Main responsibilities and duties:
Execute data extraction, anonymisation and ETL pipelines for medical imaging and clinical/research data.
Perform hands-on work with medical imaging datasets, including DICOM handling and interaction with PACS environments.
Prepare and validate analysis-ready datasets, ensuring quality, traceability and reproducibility.
Configure and manage REDCap projects, including database setup, validation rules and data exports.
Carry out applied biostatistical analyses (descriptive, exploratory and basic inferential), under the coordination of BIDU biostatistics staff.
Apply Python and/or R for data processing, quality control and analytical workflows.
Maintain technical documentation related to data processing, pipelines and analytical procedures.
Collaborate with BIDU project officers, biostatisticians and data scientists as part of multidisciplinary teams.
Ensure compliance with GDPR, institutional data governance and security policies.
Contribute to continuous improvement of technical workflows and data services.
Labour conditions:
Full-time position: 37,5h/week.
Starting date: As soon as possible
Gross annual salary: Remuneration will depend on experience and skills. Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale
