Education and qualifications:
Required:
Degree in Nanotechnology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Biomedical Engineering or similar.
PhD finished within the last 5 years.
Strong publication record as the first author.
English competence (written and spoken). Spanish proficiency will be a plus.

Experience in the optimisation and performance of bioassays on magnetic particles (MP).
Familiarity with different strategies of particle surface bioengineering.
Familiarity with different electrochemical detection techniques.
Understanding of paper microfluidics or production of paper-based diagnostic devices.
Understanding of the reference techniques for the diagnosis of infectious diseases.
Experience in the optimisation and validation of diagnostic assays.
Main responsibilities and duties:
The candidate will participate in the production of an electroanalytical diagnostic platform, in collaboration with researchers of the Spanish National Centre of Microelectronics (IMB-CNM, CSIC), which will be applied to detection and monitoring of respiratory infections. Work will include optimisation of single-step magnetic bead-based bioassays, development of paper devices for assay easy handling, and implementation of electrochemical detection using thin-film electrode devices to produce fast and simple electrochemical biosensors. Work will also include validation in real samples.
Apart from the experimental tasks, the candidate will be involved in project management, report preparation and presentation of results in project meetings.
