Project: International Research Initiative on Obstetric Violence
The Obstetrics and Gynaecology Research Unit is launching an international, multi-country research project focused on the study, prevention, and reduction of obstetric violence. This initiative aims to develop evidence-based strategies, implement improvement measures in delivery care, and foster cooperation and knowledge exchange among participating countries.
We are seeking a qualified medical doctor specialised in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, with a strong clinical and research background, particularly in delivery room practice and high-risk pregnancy follow-up. The selected candidate will contribute to a multidisciplinary project aimed at identifying the causes, patterns, and systemic factors associated with obstetric violence. The project seeks to promote evidence-based, respectful maternity care aligned with international human rights and medical standards. Key responsibilities include reviewing clinical protocols and obstetric practices, analysing patient care data, and helping design assessment tools to evaluate the prevalence and types of obstetric violence within healthcare institutions. The specialist will collaborate with researchers, public health professionals, and possibly community representatives to ensure a comprehensive and culturally sensitive approach. In addition, the role may involve contributing to academic publications, technical reports, and presentations for stakeholders, including hospitals and international organisations. A strong understanding of ethical standards, patient consent, gender equity, and reproductive rights is essential.

Education and qualifications:
Required:
Medical Degree (MD or equivalent).
Board-certified specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Registered and licensed to practice medicine.
High proficiency in Spanish and Catalan.
High level of English (C1 or equivalent).
Desired:
Additional or specialised training in delivery room management and obstetric emergency care, follow-up and management of high-risk pregnancies, clinical research methodology.
Additional knowledge in biostatistics; preferably a Master’s Degree in Statistics or advanced formal training in statistical analysis.
Enrolled in a PhD program (Doctoral Thesis) in a related field.
Experience and knowledge:
Required:
At least 4 years of clinical experience working in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, particularly in delivery room settings.
Demonstrated experience in the management and follow-up of high-risk pregnancies.
Proven experience in clinical research in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Knowledge of research design, data management, and statistical analysis.
Knowledge of ethical standards and regulatory frameworks in clinical research.
Work in multidisciplinary and international teams.
Communicate effectively across clinical, academic, and policy-making settings.
Draft scientific manuscripts, reports, and research proposals in English
Desired:
Experience in international research or healthcare projects, including research stays abroad.
Knowledge in gender-based violence frameworks and maternal rights in healthcare settings.
Experience in qualitative research methods
Main responsibilities and duties:
Coordinate and manage clinical and research activities related to the international project on obstetric violence.
Provide support to clinical teams in implementing evidence-based measures aimed at improving respectful maternity care.
Collaborate with international partners, healthcare institutions, academic centres, and stakeholders across participating countries.
Prepare and organise research protocols, ethics submissions, data collection tools, and training sessions.
Analyse quantitative and qualitative data related to obstetric practices, patient experiences, and quality-of-care indicators.
Develop and implement improvement strategies in clinical care.
Contribute to scientific publications, conference presentations, and dissemination of results.
Participate actively in knowledge exchange activities and international coordination meetings
Labour conditions:
Part-time position: 5h/week.
Starting date: As soon as possible.
Gross annual salary: 4.055,00 Euros (Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale)
Contract: Technical and scientific activities contract linked to the project activities
