Senior Project Manager
The Digital Transformation & Artificial Intelligence Unit at the Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) leads strategic initiatives designed to strengthen institutional processes, digital maturity, and operational excellence across the research lifecycle.
VHIR is currently implementing Fundanet as its corporate Research Management System. This initiative represents a major institutional transformation impacting research groups, finance, HR, administration, IT, compliance, and executive leadership.
The implementation requires strong cross-functional alignment across VHIR’s core institutional areas, structured coordination mechanisms, and proactive change management to ensure successful adoption and long-term sustainability.
To support this transformation, VHIR is seeking a Senior Project Manager who will lead program oversight, cross-departmental alignment, and organisational change management throughout the Fundanet implementation. The role will work in close collaboration with technical leadership and functional stakeholders to ensure strategic consistency, operational readiness, and effective institutional adoption.
This role will play a key institutional coordination function, ensuring consistency, transparency, and structured decision-making throughout the transformation process.
Education and qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, Health Sciences, or a related field.
Master’s degree in Project Management, Health Economics, Digital Transformation, or equivalent.
Formal certification in Project Management (PMP, PRINCE2, PM², or equivalent).
Professional proficiency in Catalan, Spanish, and English.
Desired:
Additional training in digital transformation, health data systems, or enterprise platform implementation.
Experience in biomedical research or healthcare institutional environments.
Experience and knowledge:
Required:
At least 8 years of experience managing complex digital transformation or health data system implementation programs.
Demonstrated experience coordinating multi-stakeholder, cross-functional initiatives in regulated or public-sector environments.
Experience participating in international or European-funded projects.
Proven ability to drive institutional alignment across diverse functional areas.
Experience designing and executing structured change management strategies.
Strong communication, facilitation, and executive reporting skills.
Desired:
Experience in biomedical research institutions, patient registries, or grant management systems.
Familiarity with European data protection and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR).
Main responsibilities and duties:
Lead the overall program planning, roadmap development, and milestone tracking for the Fundanet implementation across VHIR.
Drive cross-functional alignment across Research Groups, Research Management, Scientific and Education Units, Finance, Human Resources, Administration, Information Technology, Legal, Quality assurance, Data Protection, and Executive Leadership.
Coordinate structured collaboration between functional departments and the technical implementation team to ensure consistency between operational processes and system configuration.
Serve as the institutional coordination lead with Semicrol, the Fundanet provider, ensuring delivery follow-up, milestone monitoring, and contractual alignment.
Design and implement a comprehensive organisational change management strategy to support adoption across all impacted areas of VHIR.
Develop stakeholder engagement, communication, and training plans to ensure transparency, alignment, and institutional readiness.
Facilitate structured decision-making processes within steering committees, working groups, and executive forums.
Identify opportunities for institutional process harmonisation and workflow optimisation, ensuring alignment between research lifecycle processes and system capabilities.
Oversee data migration planning, testing preparation (UAT), institutional readiness assessments, and coordinated go-live execution.
Monitor budget execution, timelines, interdependencies, risks, and overall program performance at the institutional level.
Support post-go-live stabilisation, adoption monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure long-term sustainability and value realisation.
Support the strategic preparation and coordination of Phase II, including the progressive full transition from legacy systems such as Hypocrates and integration with all other satellite systems.
Labour conditions:
Full-time position: 37.5h/week.
Starting date: as soon as possible
Gross annual salary: Remuneration will depend on experience and skills. Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale.
Contract: Open-ended contract linked to the project (2 years)
