Project Manager (Infectious Diseases, Tropical Medicine Unit)
VHIR is seeking a Project Manager to oversee a research project focused on improving food security and reducing chronic malnutrition and mortality among children under five
Education and qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Sciences, Health Sciences, Statistics, Information Systems, or related field / Master’s degree
Additional or specialised training in Data Management, Biostatistics, Clinical Data Management, Database Design, or Research Methodology
Fluency in Spanish, Portuguese and English (professional proficiency)
Desired:
Additional or specialised training in Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Data Protection Regulations (e.g., GDPR), Project Management, or Data Science
Certification in Clinical Data Management or similar
Experience and knowledge:
Required:
At least 5–6 years’ experience working in data management, preferably in research, clinical trials, public health, or biomedical projects
Knowledge of database design and management systems (e.g., REDCap, SQL, Access, or similar platforms)
Knowledge of data cleaning, validation, quality control procedures, and data governance principles
Understanding of data protection legislation and ethical standards
Ability to manage large datasets with accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent organisational and communication skills
Desired:
Knowledge of statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R, Stata, or Python)
Experience with electronic data capture (EDC) systems and clinical trial databases
Knowledge of interoperability standards and data harmonisation practices
Ability to develop and implement data management plans
Experience in reporting to regulatory agencies or funding bodies
Main responsibilities and duties:
Coordinate and manage data collection, entry, validation, storage, and archiving processes across projects
Develop and maintain data management plans, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and data dictionaries
Provide support to research teams in database design, case report form (CRF) development, and data queries resolution
Collaborate with investigators, statisticians, IT teams, and external partners to ensure data integrity and compliance
Prepare and organise datasets for statistical analysis and reporting
Analyse data quality indicators and implement corrective actions when necessary
Monitor and track project timelines related to data management activities
Ensure compliance with ethical, legal, and institutional data protection requirements
Generate regular reports on data status, completeness, and quality
Labour conditions:
Full-time position: 37,5h/week.
Starting date: As soon as possible
Gross annual salary: 42.822,20 euros (Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale)
Contract: Technical and scientific activities contract linked to the project activities
