VHIR's offers a contract to work as a Research Technician within the Neurovascular Research Group. Our lab focuses on stroke research and dementia from both basic and translational perspectives. The group is composed of a highly motivated team of researchers and neuroscientists. This position will support several experimental studies related to stroke within the an ISCIII-Funded project, aimed at investigating endovascular treatments in pre-clinical mouse models of stroke to improve drug delivery into the injured tissue.

Main responsibilities and duties:

• Apply basic surgical and experimental techniques, including animal handling, anaesthesia, and postoperative care.

• Execute and manage complex MCAO models in mice, including treatment delivery via endovascular and peripheral routes.

• Perform tissue and blood sample collection, processing, and storage for downstream analyses.

• Conduct molecular biology experiments, including ELISA, Western blotting (WB), protein arrays, and other relevant techniques.

• Perform data analysis, including statistical evaluation using GraphPad Prism, SPSS, or equivalent software, and prepare scientific reports interpreting experimental results.

• Collaborate effectively within a research team, contributing to experimental planning and troubleshooting.

Education and qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Neuroscience, Health Sciences or similar (Biology, Biomedicine, etc.)

• Fluent English

• Course/Certificate in Laboratory Animal Science & Experimentation (Level C or D)

Experience and knowledge:

Required:

• At least 24 months of experience in a biomedical research laboratory environment (excluding practicum or curricular internships), with expertise in techniques such as ELISA, Western blotting (WB), protein arrays, and other cellular and molecular biology methods.

• Demonstrated proficiency in basic surgical and experimental techniques, including animal handling, anesthesia, drug administration and postoperative care.

• At least 24 months of hands-on experience (excluding practicum or curricular internships) with experimental middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) models in mice, preferably using the intraluminal filament technique, including experience in treatment delivery via endovascular and peripheral routes.

• Proven computer skills, including experience in statistical analysis using GraphPad Prism, SPSS, or equivalent software.

• Strong organisational and methodological skills, with a proactive attitude and demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
