Education Project Officer
The VHIR Academia promotes and develops academic activities at VHIR by designing innovative, high-quality training programs that prepare outstanding professionals in biomedical research, clinical research, and healthcare innovation. Within the promotion activities, the VHIR Academia participates in strategic projects such as the GiMM-Care project (https://care.gimm.pt/), funding source for this position.
The unit is also responsible for providing support and guidance to students and faculty on academic matters, as well as coordinating academic affairs and the teaching quality system to ensure the proper delivery of our training programs and compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
We are currently looking for a highly motivated Education Project Officer to join our team.
Main responsibilities and duties:
Coordinate and implement the training strategy of the GIMM-Care project by designing and delivering a portfolio of training programmes in Clinical Research, Clinical Trials, and Biobanking. This includes:
Planning, implementing, and monitoring the different tasks within the project’s training work package.
Identifying and promoting training activities within the framework of the project.
Supervising the design and development of virtual content.
Organising and supporting course logistics (including communication with participants, lecturers, and collaborators; managing course outputs and feedback; and conducting annual reviews of course content).
Managing relationships with internal and external partner organisations involved in training activities.
Ensuring the timely delivery of project deliverables.
Develop and coordinate VHIR Academia training activities and strategic projects across all phases, from design to delivery. This includes contributing to programme design, setting up and managing the virtual platform (when required), handling registrations, managing and monitoring the budget, overseeing logistical and operational aspects, and providing support to students and faculty
Coordinate and support the VHIR PhD Programme by organising meetings, planning trainings, coordinating activities, advising PhD students, delivering welcome sessions, maintaining records, and contributing to programme improvements.
Any other duties related to the job as requested to contribute to the general functioning of the VHIR Academia within the Strategy Area.
Education and qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Life Sciences or Education.
Fluency in English (professional proficiency) and a good command of Spanish and/or Catalan.
Desirable:
Additional or specialised training in education, instructional design, learning management systems (LMS) or similar will be an asset.
Complementary training in project management and/or people development and talent management will be an asset.
PhD in a life sciences-related field.
Experience and knowledge:
Required:
Proven experience in coordinating training activities, with the ability to autonomously coordinate project partners and oversee task execution in complex projects.
Proven experience in the coordination and management of European collaborative projects, preferably in the field of health research and education.
Ability to speak in public, including presenting at events and facilitating sessions and/or workshops with students.
Excellent communication and influencing skills, with ease in interacting with students, senior international scientists, and healthcare professionals.
Willingness to travel, as the position involves participation in a collaborative project with a research institute based in Lisbon.
Desirable:
Demonstrated knowledge of scientist and physician-scientist career pathways, as well as their training needs and opportunities.
Previous experience working as a training manager or organiser in health research institutions and/or hospital environments will be an asset.
Good IT skills, particularly hands-on experience with Learning Management Systems (e.g. Moodle), will be an asset.
Personal skills: strong organisational and planning abilities; a proactive, results-oriented professional with close attention to detail and the ability to work under tight deadlines; and a team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
Labour conditions:
Working hours: Full-time (37,5 hours per week).
Starting date: As soon as possible or Month, Year.
Gross annual salary: Remuneration will be determined by experience, skills and responsibilities and aligned with the Collective Agreement pay scale.
Contract type: Open-ended contract linked to the project
