Research Technician (Neurovascular Diseases)
VHIR is seeking a Research Technician to join the Neurovascular Research Group. Our lab focuses on stroke research and dementia from both basic and translational perspectives. The group is composed of a highly motivated team of researchers and neuroscientists. The selected candidate will give support to several experimental studies related to stroke disease within the PReDICT Project to investigate the genetic basis of paediatric stroke and participating in a multicentre consortium.
Main responsibilities and duties:
Perform cell culture assays.
Manage a data base of a clinical cohort
Collect, process, and store samples for downstream analyses.
Conduct molecular biology experiments, including ELISA, Western blotting (WB), immunofluorescence and other molecular and cellular biology techniques.
Analyse data, including statistical evaluation using GraphPad Prism, SPSS, and R programming for data analysis and visualization, or equivalent software.
Prepare scientific reports interpreting experimental results.
Collaborate effectively within a research team, contributing to experimental planning and troubleshooting.
Education and qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Neuroscience, Health Sciences or similar (Biology, Biomedicine, etc.)
Master’s degree in Neuroscience
Fluent English
Desirable:
Course/Certificate in Laboratory Animal Science & Experimentation (Level C or D)
Experience and knowledge:
Required:
Previous experience in a biomedical research laboratory (other than practicum or curricular internships). Minimum 24 months.
Experience in cell culture techniques.
Expertise analysing data-base clinical cohorts
Experience in: Immunoassays, western blotting, RT-PCR, cytometry, ELISA, tissue histology, etc.
Experience in collection and storage of biological samples.
Computer skills and experience in statistical analysis using GraphPad, SPSS, R or similar
Personal skills: well-organized, methodical, proactive and aptitude for teamwork
Desirable:
Experience working in multicentre or international collaborative research studies.
Labour conditions:
Working hours: Full-time (37,5 hours per week).
Starting date: July 1st
Gross annual salary: 20.000 - 24.000€ (Remuneration will be determined by experience, skills and responsibilities and aligned with the Collective Agreement pay scale)
Contract type: Technical and scientific activities contract linked to project activities
