Laboratory Technician (Laboratory of Metabolism and Obesity / Unit of Diabetes and Metabolism)
VHIR offers a Laboratory Technician position within the laboratory of Metabolism and Obesity, led by Dr. Josep A. Villena. The research of Dr Villena’s lab focuses on the study of the cellular and molecular mechanisms by which adipose tissues contribute to the control of body weight and glucose homeostasis, with particular interest on how the adipocyte-immune cell crosstalk contribute to tissue homeostasis or development of cardiometabolic pathologies. Dr Villena’s research combines multiple Omic technologies (transcriptomics, proteomics and cytomics) with the use of sophisticated tissue-specific (constitutive and inducible) knockout mouse models, primary cultures, and human samples
Main responsibilities and duties:
Coordinate a study aimed at identifying the molecular mechanisms involved in the metabolic effects of calorie restriction in adipose tissues.
Lead the experimental work in animal models aimed at characterizing the immune compartment composition and function in adipose tissue.
Analyse the resulting data
Write reports on the data obtained
Education and qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Sciences and a Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences or related fields.
Specific training in animal experimentation (FELASA accreditation or equivalent)
Fluency in Catalan, Spanish and English (professional proficiency)
Experience and knowledge:
Required:
Experience in the use of genetically-engineered animal models
Experience in spectral flow cytometry
Excellent organizational, writing and communication skills.
Desirable:
Additional training and experience in basic techniques within the field of molecular and cellular biology
Labour conditions:
Working hours: Part-time (23,28 hours per week).
Starting date: As soon as possible.
Gross annual salary: €14,523.00.
Contract type: Technical and scientific activities contract linked to project activities.
Duration: 6 months.
