Laboratory Technician (Neurovascular Diseases)
VHIR offers a vacant position to work as a Laboratory Technician within the Neurovascular Research Group. Our lab focuses on stroke research and dementia from both basic and translational perspectives. The group is composed of a highly motivated team of researchers, including neurologists, biologists, technicians, statisticians, psychologists, and nurses. This position will give support to several experimental studies related to stroke disease.
Main responsibilities and duties:
General laboratory maintenance: cleaning of biosafety cabinets and freezers, cleaning of laboratory instruments, replenishment of pipette tips, and restocking of clean materials.
Preparation, management, collection, storage, and maintenance of biological human samples, including data collection and management using Excel databases. Preparation of sample dilutions and basic laboratory reagents.
Quantification of plasma proteins using the BCA method.
Cell culture: basic techniques for maintenance and cell handling.
Immunological techniques based on antigen–antibody reactions (Western Blot, ELISA).
Evaluation of result consistency and application of corrective measures.
Education and qualifications:
Required:
Higher Vocational Training Qualification (CFGS) or Degree in Laboratory Technology, Clinical and Biomedical Sciences or a related discipline
Fluency in English
Experience and knowledge:
Required:
Experience in general laboratory maintenance and biological sample management, including handling, storage, and Excel-based data recording.
Experience in basic laboratory preparation work, including reagent preparation and sample dilutions.
Practical experience in cell culture techniques (cell lines).
Knowledge of immunological techniques (Western Blot and ELISA).
Ability to ensure data quality, evaluate results, and apply corrective measures.

Labour conditions:
Working hours: Full-time (37,5 hours per week).
Starting date: Mid-june.
Gross annual salary: €19.053,78-20.000 (Remuneration will be determined by experience, skills and responsibilities and aligned with the Collective Agreement pay scale.)
