Postdoctoral Researcher (Biomedical research in cancer stem cells)
The Head and Neck Cancer Research Group at Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join an innovative and collaborative translational research team.
Main responsibilities and duties:
Coordinate and manage his/her own project: both at the experimental level and in terms of independent scientific decision-making.
Provide support to Master’s and predoctoral students.
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary team members.
Prepare and organise lab meetings.
Analyse complex data.
Monitor and track Master’s and predoctoral students.
Education and qualifications:
Required:
PhD Degree in Sciences (i.e., Biology)
Specific training in cell culture & molecular biology
Fluency in Spanish & English (business level)
Specific training in animal models
Desirable:
Additional or specialised training in in silico tools
Fluency in Catalan
Experience and knowledge:
Required:
Having conducted the PhD (including wet/dry-lab related work) work for at least 3 years as R1.
At least 1 first-author original publication in JCR-indexed peer-reviewed journals.
Competences:
o Research Expertise: Solid disciplinary knowledge and ability to contribute to high-quality research activities.
o Research data management: Experience organising and managing research data following FAIR principles.
o Teamwork and mentoring: Ability to work collaboratively and support junior researchers or students.
o Analytical thinking: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills applied to research challenges.
o Scientific dissemination: Experience contributing to publications and research dissemination activities.
Desirable:
Experience in contributing to the preparation of competitive funding applications such as postdoctoral fellowships and research grant applications, among others.
Labour conditions:
Working hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week).
Starting date: 11-06-2026.
Gross annual salary: Remuneration will be determined by experience, skills and responsibilities and aligned with the Collective Agreement pay scale.
Contract type:Technical and scientific activities contract linked to project activities.
