Post-Award Grants Technician
Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) is a public sector institution, located in Barcelona (Spain) that promotes and develops innovative biomedical research at the University Hospital Vall d'Hebron. VHIR is oriented towards finding solutions to the health problems of the citizens and has the will to contribute to the scientific, educational, social and economic development within its area of competence.
We encourage and support our researchers in securing competitive research funding by identifying funding opportunities and contributing to the development of high-quality proposals (Pre-Award Unit). Once the desired funding is achieved, we provide support in managing granted funds to comply with internal policies and funding bodies regulations (Post-Award Unit).
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic candidate to join the Post-Award Unit as a Post-Award Grants Technician to strengthen the team.
Main responsibilities and duties:
The Post-Award Grants Technician’s main responsibility is to support Post-Award Research Officers in the effective management of competitive grant funding awarded to VHIR researchers, ensuring compliance with internal policies and funding body regulations. The main duties of this position will include:
Preparation of financial reports, audits, and supporting documentation for project reporting; monitoring timesheet records and project deliverables; managing amendments to legal agreements in national and international projects; and supporting project close-out activities.
Regular monitoring of executed budgets and incomes to communicate budget deviations.
Maintenance and updating of the grants database for accurate activity reports.
Manage and update administrative data related to funded projects using our internal research management software.
Organise and monitor paperwork and electronic documents related to research grants.
Interaction with funding agencies or coordinators during the project implementation for financial and administrative matters.
Any other duties related to the position as required to support the effective functioning of the Post-Award Unit.
Education and qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Finance, Economics, or a related field).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Catalan and/or Spanish.
Fluency in English (business level).
Desirable:
Specific training in grant financial management will be highly valuable.
Experience and knowledge:
Required:
Good command of MS Office and other computer tools.
Well organised person with very good attention to detail and the ability to work with tight deadlines.
Self-motivated, creative, proactive and results-oriented.
Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills, with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Desirable:
Experience in post-award research management (national and/or international competitive calls).
Previous experience in health/biomedical research environment.
International work experience.
Labour conditions:
Working hours: Full-time (37,5 hours per week).
Starting date: As soon as possible or Month, Year.
Gross annual salary: Remuneration will be determined by experience, skills and responsibilities and aligned with the Collective Agreement pay scale.
Contract type: Open-ended contract linked to the project.
