Laboratory technician (Headache and neurological pain)
The Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) is seeking a motivated Research Technician to join the Headache and Neurological Pain Research Group and support preclinical research activities in the field of migraine.
Main responsibilities and duties:
Coordinate and manage students who perform their master or undergraduate thesis in the group.
Provide support to predoctoral students and researchers of the group in the laboratory and in the animal facilities.
Perform immunohistochemistry studies and analyse the data obtained.
Provide support in the animal facilities by injecting drugs and performing surgeries and behaviour tests.
Education and qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences (Biology, Biotechnology, etc).
Certificate to work with animals in the laboratory, or at least to have completed the theorical part of the course.
Fluency in Catalan, Spanish and English.
Interest in Migraine and preclinical research.
Availability for on-site work Monday to Friday.
Interest to apply to PhD calls in the group.
Desirable:
Master´s degree in Biomedical Sciences.
Experience and knowledge:
Required:
Independence in performing immunohistochemistry studies, including processing of rodent brain samples, immunostaining, using fluorescent microscope and analysis of images with ImageJ software.
Knowledge of R to perform basic statistics.
Capacity to work independently with complex tasks.
Good teamwork skills.
Desirable:
Basic experience in working with rodents in the laboratory.
Previous participation in migraine-related research.
Labour conditions:
Working hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week).
Starting date: July, 2026.
Gross annual salary: Remuneration will be determined by experience, skills and responsibilities and aligned with the Collective Agreement pay scale.
Contract type: Technical and scientific activities contract linked to project activities.
