Bioinformatics Technician (Nephrology and Transplantation Research Group)
VHIR offers a vacant position for a Technician with experience in Bioinformatics and Biostatistics for the Nephrology and Transplantation Research Group
Main responsibilities and duties:
Perform bioinformatic analysis of high-throughput omics datasets, including next-generation sequencing data.
Develop predictive and prognostic statistical models within research projects related to solid organ transplantation.
Identify, analyse and validate candidate biomarkers using multi-omics approaches.
Contribute to preparation of internal reports, research proposals, scientific manuscripts and grant applications.
Assist in the preparation of presentations for research meetings, scientific conferences and dissemination activities.
Ensure the reproducibility and documentation of bioinformatic workflows following good research practices
Education and qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics, Biology or a related Life Sciences discipline.
Master’s degree in Bioinformatics.
Fluency in English (professional proficiency).
Desirable:
Additional training in Immunology, Transplantation or Computational Biology.
Experience and knowledge:
Required:
Understanding of experimental design and statistical concepts for omics data analysis.
Experience analysing high-throughput sequencing data.
Proficiency in R for statistical analysis and data visualisation.
Experience integrating multi-omic datasets.
Ability to interpret computational results within their biological and clinical context.
Experience reproducing and implementing computational methods described in scientific publications
Desirable:
Experience with machine learning approaches for biomarker discovery or predictive modelling.
Good skills in dissemination activities in science.

Labour conditions:
Working hours: Full-time (37,5 hours per week).
Starting date: 15th September, 2026.
Gross annual salary: €23,393.80 - €36,794.72r Remuneration will be determined by experience, skills and responsibilities and aligned with the Collective Agreement pay scale.
Contract type: Technical and scientific activities contract linked to the project activities.
