Physiotherapist (Physical medicine and rehabilitation)
Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) is a public-sector institution located in Barcelona, Spain, that promotes and develops innovative biomedical research at Vall d’Hebron University Hospital. VHIR offers a part-time position for a Physiotherapist to join the Paediatric Neuromuscular Unit, through close collaboration between the Paediatric Neurology and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) teams. The selected candidate will participate in the multidisciplinary assessment and follow-up of children and adolescents with neurological and neuromuscular disorders. The position combines clinical activities in research projects, natural-history studies and clinical trials.
Main responsibilities and duties:
Participate in the clinical and research activities of the Paediatric Neuromuscular Unit.
Work in close coordination with the Paediatric PM&R team and the hospital’s clinical physiotherapists.
Perform standardised motor and functional assessments in children and adolescents with neurological and neuromuscular disorders.
Participate in multidisciplinary assessments and coordinated follow-up visits. Assess mobility, muscle strength, joint range of motion, contractures, posture and functional abilities. Administer clinical outcome measures used in routine care, natural-history studies and clinical trials of muscular dystrophies, spinal muscular atrophy, congenital myopathies and other paediatric neuromuscular disorders, including MFM, CHOP INTEND, Hammersmith scales, NSAA, RULM, PUL and timed functional tests.
Contribute to research and to the incorporation and validation of novel assessment technologies.
Collect, register and manage clinical and research data in accordance with study protocols and Good Clinical Practice.
Participate in clinical trials, observational studies, natural-history studies and other research projects.
Collaborate in the preparation of study visits, clinical reports, research documentation and study-related materials.
Coordinate with paediatric neurologists, rehabilitation physicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, clinical researchers and other professionals involved in patient care.
Education and qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Physiotherapy.
Eligibility to practise as a physiotherapist in Spain.
Fluency in Spanish
Good command of English (written and spoken)
Desirable:
Postgraduate training in paediatric physiotherapy, neurological rehabilitation or neuromuscular disorders; training in standardised motor and functional assessment scales.
Good Clinical Practice certification.
Fluency in Catalan and/or other languages.
Experience and knowledge:
Required:
Experience or demonstrated interest in paediatric physiotherapy, neurorehabilitation or neuromuscular disorders.
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, with good communication, org§
Accuracy in clinical documentation and data collection.
Ability to work with children, adolescents and their families.
Desirable:
Previous experience with children with neurological or neuromuscular disorders, in a hospital or specialised clinical environment, and administering standardised motor outcome measures.
Previous participation in clinical trials, observational studies or research projects; experience presenting results at scientific meetings or contributing to scientific publications.
Labour conditions:
Working hours: Part-time (18,75 hours per week).
Starting date: As soon as possible.
Gross annual salary: Remuneration will be determined by experience, skills and responsibilities and aligned with the Collective Agreement pay scale.
Contract type: Technical and scientific activities contract linked to project activities.
