Senior Biostatistics Supervisor Technician
The Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) is a public sector institution that promotes and develops biomedical research, innovation and teaching at Vall d’Hebron University Hospital.
The Biomedical Data Intelligence Unit (BIDU) is a transversal core facility within the Digital Transformation Area, providing expertise in biostatistics, bioinformatics, data science and artificial intelligence applied to biomedical research. BIDU supports research groups across the Vall d’Hebron Campus, ensuring methodological rigor, reproducibility, data governance and quality compliance.
We are looking for a Senior Biostatistics Supervisor Technician to spearhead the operational flow of our biostatistical support services, ensuring that every stage of experimental design and data analysis meets the highest standards of scientific rigor. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the technical execution of projects, acting as a vital link between the technical team and the Head of Unit to ensure milestones are met with excellence.
Main responsibilities and duties:
Supervise and participate in the technical execution of biostatistical services and report progress to the Head of Unit.
Perform quality assurance and validation of analysis deliverables to ensure they meet study requirements and rigor standards.
Provide methodological advice to researchers on study design, sample size calculation, and analysis methods.
Support the Head of Unit in administrative tasks, including billing validation and technical management of contracts.
Conduct technology watch to implement new methods and pipelines within the quality system.
Co-lead the design of the Unit's teaching activities and provide technical mentoring to students.
Maintain and update operational procedures within the Quality Management System.
Education and qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, or Experimental Sciences with a strong quantitative component.
Master’s degree in Biostatistics or a related field.
Fluency in Catalan, Spanish and English (Professional proficiency).
Desirable:
PhD in Biostatistics or a related field.
Specialized training in Quality Management (ISO 9001) and/or Good Clinical Practices (GCP).
Experience and knowledge:
Required:
At least 3 years of experience performing and supervising biostatistical analysis in research or hospital environments.
Advanced command of statistical software (R, Stata, SAS, or SPSS).
Knowledge of Clinical Trials methodology (Statistical Analysis Plans, randomization processes).
Desirable:
Familiarity with project management methodologies (PMP, Agile) and quality systems.
Labour conditions:
Working hours: Full-time (37,5 hours per week).
Starting date: As soon as possible.
Gross annual salary: €38,000.
Contract type: Permanent contract.
